Honoring Leadership

Such a great honor to be here again this morning, and a great honor to be invited. I celebrate the convener of this special conference. I celebrate Pastor Jonathan and his dear wife and family. Bless the Lord for them. May I ask you to put your hands together for leadership? Come and celebrate them, please.

Forgive me to digress from what I'm about to teach this morning. One of the reasons I feel we must always celebrate leadership is because here in the Western Hemisphere, we sometimes think that when we celebrate leadership, we're taking away something from the Lord. But that's not it. Leadership determines your height. Leadership determines your breadth. Leadership determines what you become.

You don't know what you have when you live in the United States of America. You are under good leadership. There are people who are abused and used and sold down the river in the countries in which they are. So you must appreciate whatever you have and celebrate the liberty, the blessing, the leadership under which you are. I say this because it's coming into the church. Sometimes pastors have been dishonored. The people who raise us, who challenge us to be the best, we treat them like they are regular.

David said in Psalm 127, "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of the youth; happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them." Why did he use the arrow? Because there is a difference between an arrow and the bullet in a gun. When a gun is manufactured, the distance and the velocity of the bullet are already fixed. But an arrow has no velocity fixed; it is determined by who is shooting it. So if you're in the hand of a mighty man, you go far. If you're in the hand of a little child, you don't go far. This morning, I believe we're in the hands of a mighty man. So help me to celebrate the pastor one more time.

This morning I'm going to slow down and just do some teaching. Is that okay? This morning, I really want to challenge you. As we talk about the subject of supernatural faith and faith for the impossible, I'd like to teach this morning on you really having the faith for maximum victory. Faith for maximum victory. And I'm taking my teaching from 2 Kings chapter 13, verses 14 to 19.

The Text: 2 Kings 13:14–19

When Elisha was in his last illness, King Jehoash of Israel visited him and wept over him. "My father, my father, I see the chariots and the charioteers of Israel," he cried.Elisha told him, "Get a bow and some arrows." And the king did as he was told. Elisha told him, "Put your hand on the bow," and Elisha laid his own hands on the king's hands. Then he commanded, "Open that eastern window," and he opened it. Then he said, "Shoot!" So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, "This is the Lord's arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek."Then he said, "Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground." So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times. But the man of God was angry with him. "You should have struck the ground five or six times," he exclaimed, "then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times."

From this passage of scripture, I want to talk to you about moving from being a passive believer to a militant-faith believer. Because in these last days, we've got to move in the grace of God. But we will need some kind of unusual militancy to our faith to see the hand of God, to see the grace of God, to see a move of God. Too many believers are so into easy-believism.

A Dangerous Disease in the Body of Christ

There is a dangerous disease spreading in the body of Christ. It is not persecution, because the church in the West is not persecuted. You don't live in Tibet. You don't live in northern Nigeria, where it's a crime to be a Christian. The challenge of the church today is not even poverty, because some of the things we have today, the church in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s in the United States didn't have. It's not even the devil. Sometimes it's a spiritual complacency.

Too many believers have become comfortable in battles that they thought they'd already won. They have accepted delays that should have been broken. They've tolerated bondages that should have been destroyed, and have made peace with limitation, telling themselves, "Well, I just couldn't overcome that, so I'm just going to settle down." We become too satisfied with surviving when God wanted us to reign. We're called to reign. We're called to be in dominion. We've celebrated partial victories when heaven already ordained complete and total conquest.

King Jehoash made that mistake that cost him generations of victory. The prophet Elisha placed a bow in his hands and told him to strike the arrows and hit the ground. The king struck the ground three times. This got to Elisha. The king did not stop because God stopped him; he stopped himself. There are times our victories have been stopped by our own limitations, by our own attitudes. His expectations stopped, his passion stopped, his determination stopped. There are people who've seen just a little growth and they thought that's all they can have. Sometimes we make room for the challenges in the place where our ministry is, where our business is. We read the statistics, but we don't realize our God is bigger than the statistics.

The tragedy of this story is that this man could have had a complete victory. He only had a partial one. I came today to challenge somebody: you're moving into greater victory, greater testimony, greater favor, and greater blessings.

Passivity Is Not Patience

Many believers are exactly where Jehoash was. They pray once, they stop. They fast a few days, they stop. If they hear of anyone who fasted 14 days or 21 days, they look at them like, "What are you trying to become? The baby Jesus, or a second Jesus?" They attend church and stop contending. They just like the Sunday service, and that's all. They have dreams but no pursuit. In these last days, we've got to understand we need a kind of faith that produces the miraculous.

These people have promises, but they don't know how to persevere until the promise becomes reality. They have prophecies given to them, but they don't know how to persist; and when it doesn't happen on time, they tell themselves, "Oh, brother so-and-so was wrong; you gave me a prophetic word." They didn't know that though it tarries, wait for it — it will not be overdue by a single day.

The devil has convinced many Christians that being passive is the same thing as being patient. Passivity and patience are not the same thing. Biblical patience is not passive resignation. When you resign to fate, when you resign to situations, that's not patience. Steadfast endurance while actively trusting and obeying God is the necessity. Faith is never idle.

The Bible doesn't describe believers as spectators. We're called to be soldiers who endure (2 Timothy 2:3). We're called to be wrestlers who contend (Ephesians 6:12). We're called to be runners who press toward the mark (Philippians 3:14). We're called to be builders who labor (1 Corinthians 3:9). We're called to be watchmen who refuse to sleep on duty (Isaiah 62:6–7). Every one of these pictures demands action.

The kingdom of God is organized, and so is the kingdom of darkness. Satan is so organized; don't you ever think he's not. That's why the Bible says principalities, then powers, then rulers, then spirits of wickedness. Every time you deal with principalities and you rise above them, the next level is waiting for you. So you've got to know what you have, what God has put inside you, so you can overcome.

The Apostle Paul tells us, "Fight the good fight of faith." Notice that he didn't say, "Observe the good fight." This is not the WWF, where you're sitting watching. You're the wrestler. You are the fighter yourself. He did not say, "Watch the good fight." He said, "Fight." Fight for your territory. Fight for your corner. Fight for your city. Fight for the things that belong to you. The devil shouldn't chase you out of town. You shouldn't be the one saying, "Well, the church is not growing here, there's nothing we can do; the business is not growing," while that which belongs to the unsaved is growing. It's time for us to take territories.

There are victories, but they belong to those who refuse to quit. There are doors open, but they belong to those who keep on knocking until the door opens. Some doors don't want to open, but you've got to make up your mind: "I'm not quitting. I'm not moving. This guy is not for shaking. I'm going to be here until the door opens."

There are mountains that only move by persistent faith. Because you spoke the word once doesn't mean the mountain will move. You've got to stay there, be there, until there is a turnaround. There are strongholds that won't collapse until you sustain your spiritual warfare. There are prophecies that require determined obedience before they become visible realities in your life. You've got to be ready, obedient, persistent — because something always wants to fight a prophetic word given to you. Every time a prophetic word goes forth, there will be resistance. If there's no resistance, then that word is not from God. The enemy has to resist what you're trying to use that prophetic word to achieve. When a prophetic word is given to you, it's a sword in your hand. You've got to use that sword to possess your possession, to take your territories. Because a word is given doesn't mean it will come to pass; if you don't possess it, you won't possess it.

God gave Israel a promise: "I give you the land from the river Euphrates to the river of Egypt." That meant from Iran and Iraq to the Jordan. But today they are only occupying fifty miles by a hundred and fifty. Which means somebody did not totally occupy what was given to them. God did not fail; it was man who did not step in. And the people they permitted to occupy the land have come back to fight. It's time to take your territories. It's time to possess the land. We must recover by spiritual determination.

Enough is enough. Enough of accepting what God never ordained. There are some things we've made room for and accommodated that God didn't want in your life or your ministry. Enough of negotiating with fear and saying, "Well, stay where you are, and let's all just understand one another." No. The kingdom of God is suffering violence, and the violent take it by force. Another translation says the kingdom of God is on a forceful advance, and the other side is moving back. We're taking the territories. Enough of stopping after three strikes when heaven wants you to strike six times.

The king stopped. He had a revelation; he saw what God could do. Did you notice the statement there — "the chariots of God"? That was the same kind of revelation Elisha had when the River Jordan opened. The king had the same revelation, but he did not have the same possession. Because you saw what I saw doesn't mean you will get what I get. Because you heard what I heard doesn't mean you will get what I get.

Today the Holy Spirit is placing arrows in our hands — arrows of prayer, arrows of faith, arrows of the Word, arrows of obedience, arrows of worship, arrows of perseverance. So the question is not whether we have enough power. Our God can never run out of power. He is omnipotent — omni in His unused power, power that has no limits. And the greater the challenge, the greater the presence of our God. So I pray for somebody: every sleeping giant will awaken, every weary warrior will receive fresh strength, every delayed victory will become complete victory, every challenge you were settling for will now become total testimony. You will no longer settle for partial restoration; you will take your total territory.

The background of this story is so powerful. The prophet is about to pass on. Elisha gave him an instruction: "Take the arrows. Strike the ground." The king struck three times. Then Elisha became angry and said, "You should have struck it five or six times; then you would have defeated Syria completely. Instead, you will defeat them three times." And we know what happened — they became a thorn in their flesh. Whatever you permit increases. Whatever you permit negotiates with you and increases. Whatever you say you will not permit must shift.

So listen, the prophetic revelation is that the arrows represent your actions — the actions you take. God was saying, "How far do you want to go with the victory? How far do you want to take the land? How far do you want your business, your vision, your dream, your family to win?" Many believers pray once and then they stop. They try once and they stop. They fast once, and they've come up with a disease called excusitis. But heaven is looking for spiritual fighters. The greater the battle, the greater the resource available — and the greater the victory that will follow.

I'm going to be teaching and taking you through the fives and tens and fifteens. I teach in structures, so please permit me if I do five of this, twenty of that, seven of this. It's just the way I think — in fives and tens and sevens and sixes.

Five Prophetic Lessons About Maximum Victory

Lesson One — Maximum Victory Requires Prophetic Direction

And that's why we all flew in to be here — we need prophetic direction. Just like Elisha said to the man, "Take the bow and the arrow," victory begins when you receive divine instruction. Victory begins when there is a word from the Lord. Isaiah 30:21 says, "This is the way; walk in it." Many people fight battles without instruction. How would you fight a battle without instruction? You don't even know which way you're going; you don't know where the enemy is coming from. But when God gives direction, your battle becomes targeted, your effort becomes strategic, and your victory becomes guaranteed. The cheapest way to victory is obedience.

Lesson Two — Maximum Victory Requires Spiritual Alignment

Elisha placed his hand on the king's hand. This represents prophetic impartation — the transference of spiritual authority. In other words, I mustn't just listen; I must find a way of being imparted, of getting something from the person who carries the grace. That's what spiritual alignment means, and that's why it matters. Whatever Elisha carried at that moment was being transferred to the king, but he did not understand it.

Sometimes in the church we're like that. We are in an atmosphere of supernatural capacity, but we come with a baby's heart. Jesus said the kingdom of God is like children in the marketplace. If you take your children to the bank while you're transacting business worth millions of dollars, and the computers in the bank are transferring billions, the kids just want to pick up the flyers to play with. Children in the marketplace do not recognize the enormity of what's going on in the building. It's the same with Christianity: you could be in an atmosphere of billions of supernatural favor, but you're dealing with flyers because you didn't grasp the atmosphere you were in.

How many people will ever meet an Elisha — a man whose bones, when he died, raised the dead? Imagine what he carried while he was alive. And yet you meet this man, he places his hand on you, and all you could do is strike the ground with style. He was doing it with style, striking with style. This is not about style. This is about saying, "I don't care if I lose my reputation. I need the power of God. I need the grace of God. I need the hand of God."

Elisha was the best voice King Jehoash could have heard. Every victory, every battle in your life is connected to a voice in your life. The victory you would have is connected to a voice. One statement from Pastor Jonathan could practically give me an insight on how to come out of a problem. It depends on who you're hearing, who you're listening to. Who you hear determines who hears you. Who you hear determines who you become. Who you hear determines what instruction you obey. And many of us are listening to the wrong people. We turn on the radio and the television first thing in the morning, and they tell you how the weather will be, how the nation will be, how the year will be — and then your faith is already down below because of who you listened to. Your spirit has a gate, and you shouldn't open it to everyone. Association determines assimilation. Who you associate with determines what you assimilate.

When Elisha placed his hand on the king's hand, he was passing on whatever grace he carried. The king missed out on something. Elisha prayed, when he was a young man, for how much of a portion from Elijah? A double portion. Next time you have the time, count the miracles of Elijah — there were seven. Count the miracles of Elisha — there were not fourteen; there were twenty-one. So instead of double, he got triple portion. Now the man with triple-portion anointing is in your presence, lays his hands on you, and you're still acting with style. Too many people who are busy in church are too concerned — forgive my French — about their makeup and how they look. "Is my tie properly adjusted? Hey cameraman, before you take my photo, please." We need to get the spirit of what brought us here. Get the spirit of why we are in His presence.

When you align with the right voice, like the voice of Elisha, you fight better because you're hearing the right instruction. You pray stronger because you're hearing the right person. You see clearer because you're hearing the right person. Winston Churchill of the United Kingdom may not have been a soldier, but he was the right voice during the Second World War. His words, his capacity, his ability to carry a nation during war were unsurpassed in the whole of the United Kingdom. He spoke in such a way that he persuaded a nation to resist Hitler — so that though Hitler conquered every nation in Europe, he did not conquer the United Kingdom. Because who you hear determines what you become. Who you hear determines your rise. Who you hear determines your climb. You cannot hang out with spiritual babies and receive spiritual maturity. Not every conference in town blesses you. Not every conference in town takes you to the next level. Forgive me to say, some conferences only tell you some elementary, scientific ways to church growth, but they don't get sustained. And when they fall apart, all the king's horses and all the king's men will not be able to put Humpty Dumpty together again.

Lesson Three — Maximum Victory Requires Aggressive Faith

When Elisha said, "Strike the ground," he did not say how many times. The king should have struck until the prophet said, "That's enough." Instead, he stopped too early. This reveals a dangerous enemy: spiritual passivity. Spiritual passivity means you don't take charge and really go on until you win the battle. Victory belongs to those who refuse to stop fighting.

One of the three hundred captains of David, one of the inner core of his captains, was a man who fought a thousand men with a sword in his hand. He fought a thousand men, and when the fight was over, it took time before they could take his hand off the sword — his hand and the sword had become one. I don't even know how he did it: fighting a thousand men, just one man, and beating a thousand. It's not Bruce Lee. Even with Bruce Lee, I don't quite understand — he's fighting them and all of them are waiting for their turn. You should rush him, man. Rush him!

The devil is not afraid of casual believers. He's only afraid of violent faith. He's afraid of people who believe the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force. In these last days, you've got to take some things by force. Take your territories by force. Take your buildings by force. Take your favors by force. Take the grounds by force.

Lesson Four — Maximum Victory Requires Persistence

In Luke 18:1, "men ought always to pray, and not to faint." Great victories come from great persistence. R. W. Schambach used to say, "You don't have any problems. All you need is faith in God." Did he face some challenges? He was arrested several times. Schambach would be locked up for preaching and for healing the sick. But faith must be persistent. Pray again, strike again, believe again, try again.

I know that here in the word-of-faith movement, we taught people to pray once over a matter and leave it alone. But prayer is not just one style. There are different kinds of prayer. Prayer is like a game of balls. There is soccer, there is basketball, there is American football, there is golf — different balls, different rules. So the prayer of supplication is not the prayer of faith. The prayer of faith is not the prayer of consecration. The prayer of consecration is not the same as the prayer of agreement. There are different laws governing all the prayers. So if you need to pray over it again, that's a prayer of supplication. Jesus said to ask until your joy is full. Keep on asking, keep on praying until the breakthrough comes. Don't ask once, don't ask twice, don't ask three times — keep crying to God. Pray again, strike again, believe again, try again until there is a breakthrough.

In Galatians 6:9, the Bible says, "Let us not be weary in well doing." Some people have given up because something didn't work out on time, and you could just miss your season. The Greek word for season is kairos, and the appropriate time for some things to happen — you've got to wait for the appropriate time. It may take long; that's why the prophet said, "Though it tarries, wait for it." The Living Bible says it will not be overdue by a single day. When the season for a thing comes, nothing can stop it. I have a feeling somebody's here: nothing can stop your testimony, nothing can stop your breakthrough, nothing can stop your favor. Your season will manifest. Your day will come when the doors will open. All those prayers from your great-grandmother, the prayers from your grandmother, and the declarations from your father will become the realities of your life. Somebody shout a good amen.

Lesson Five — Maximum Victory Requires Spiritual Hunger

The king lacked spiritual intensity. It is intensity that makes me, after fifty-two years in the ministry — when I should be relaxing and putting some pillows under my feet — rather hold crusades. I'm directing all my resources into these crusades. I'm putting everything I have into them, seeing more souls saved than I had ever seen in my lifetime. The first time we held a crusade, 15,000 people gave their life to Christ. The second crusade, 25,000. Last year in Port Harcourt, 30,000 people came to the Lord.

Intentional Christianity is different from passive Christianity. Those who are passive are easily blown away. Anything in which you are passive, it's easy to persuade you away from it. But when you are so intentional, you don't stop. This man stopped too early. Many stop at 30% breakthrough, 50% blessing, or 70% victory. But God is saying, "Strike again." Because the difference between good and great is to strike again. Between breakthrough and overflow is to strike again. Between victory and dominion is to strike again. I see somebody breaking forth — breaking into a new season, a new dimension, new levels, like you have never done before. Somebody say a good amen.

Twenty Deep Prophetic Revelations

Let's take this a little further. Let me teach on twenty deep prophetic revelations from this passage in 2 Kings, which we read this morning.

Revelation One — Your victory is often hidden inside prophetic instruction

When God gives a prophetic instruction, the victory is inside that instruction. "Go wash in the Jordan." And Naaman the general said, "Me, wash in the Jordan?" His victory was hidden in the instruction. "Go to Zarephath, for there I have commanded a widow to feed you." That instruction carried the future of Elijah. If Elijah had gone elsewhere, he would have missed it, because God said, "Go to Zarephath. For there." Please say it one more time: there. And another time: there. There is a place called there. Until you're there, you're not there. And when you get there, you will know you're there. Even the devil will know you're there. But if you're out of there, then you are out. When you're there, things synchronize; things work. The reason many people find a lot of frustration with ministry, with business, with life, is because they are not there. They went elsewhere.

And God's instruction sounded so foolish. But in the foolishness of the gospel lies power. "Go to Zarephath, for there I have commanded a widow." I don't know what Elijah thought — maybe he thought, "Mine must be a widow whose husband left her millions." Then he gets there and finds a woman cutting wood to go cook her last meal. But he knew the instruction of the Lord was hidden in that "there." Are you there? Because if you're not there — this is the conference of change. It's time for people to move where they know this is not "there." You can't force it. If you're not there, then you're not there.

He said, "Go to the brook Cherith, for there I have commanded a raven to feed you." Firstly, a raven is a carnivore; it eats meat. Then God puts meat in the mouth of a meat-eater and says, "Carry it to Elijah." How do you put meat in the mouth of a thief if it's not the Lord? So in effect, if you go where God said to go, even the unsaved will bless you. People who don't like you will bless you. This is so strange. I'm sure when we get to heaven we'll find that even God is humorous — putting meat in the mouth of a carnivore like a raven, saying, "Deliver it to Elijah, and do this two times a day," and the raven carries the meat to Elijah twice a day and does not eat it. Something inside the raven must have been turned off so it can't eat what belongs to Elijah.

Someone is carrying your blessing, looking for you. I pray for a connection from today. You've got to be there. May you find the place called there. Don't go where it looks nice. Don't pray for the Lord to send you to the nicest place on earth to be a pastor; tell Him, "Send me there." Don't go to the nicest place to do a business; ask Him to send you there. If you get there, things will work. Your life will be a magnet. Things will begin to come to you because you're in the center of God's will.

Elijah being there, as he entered Zarephath, meant that a whole town had food to eat. Zarephath in the days of Elijah was also the city of Sarepta in the days of Jesus — the same place. So one man obeying God meant that someone was sustained because another man obeyed. The power of the last-day church is centered in us realizing God is ready to shake America, to shake Canada, to shake Europe, to shake Africa. If we can connect the way He wants us to connect, the provision will come, the possibilities will come, the blessings will come, the breakthroughs will come. Somebody somewhere will believe in your dreams and make your vision come to pass. Let somebody shout hallelujah.

Revelation Two — Spiritual authority releases supernatural results

The authority Elisha carried was what this king didn't have. The king had a title; Elisha had a calling. The king had a position; Elisha had the power. And if the king had power, Elisha had authority. Power and authority are not the same. In Luke chapter 4, the Bible says when Jesus spoke, He spoke with authority, power, and weight. They are not the same. There are many pastors who have power but no authority. You need to have authority, power, and weight. If I take a piece of paper and drop it on the ground, you wouldn't hear the sound. If I pick up a whole Bible and drop it, you might hear it, because it has weight. The reason many people cast out demons and the demons challenge them and say, "Who are you?" is because their words have no weight. It's time for the church to wake up and be a church that carries authority, power, and weight.

When Elisha placed his hands on the king's hands, authority was transferred to the king. Whatever he did at that time would have been supernatural. But the king didn't get it. He didn't know who he was with. Sometimes you could know a person after the flesh and not after the spirit. I could know Pastor Jonathan after the flesh and not really know him after the spirit. There are people who are babies in the natural but supernatural giants. There are babies in the natural who are generals in the spirit. When Peter was released from the jailhouse, who went to the door? A little girl. And when she came back and told them, "It's Peter," they looked at her like, "You're just a little girl." She said, "It's Peter, he's released." The girl had faith; they just had facts. They didn't have faith. Sometimes we think we have all of it, and we look down on some people, and we may not even realize that what they carry is what we need. You could look down on a person on the grounds of relationship: "Oh, he's my husband. He's my brother." And we miss out on what they carry.

This happened in Africa many years ago, when revival broke out in 1930 in my nation. Forty-year-old corpses were rising. Unusual miracles like had never been seen before. One of the people God used, a prophet, was named Baba Aladura. He was so anointed, powerful, and unusual. He wanted a comfortable life for his mother — built her a house, got her two people to cook all her meals, wash all her clothes, and take care of her. But she was never satisfied. She always wanted her son to come, and her son had a ministry to run; he had to run crusades. She was always complaining every time he came. And he cried to God: "God, I want to serve You, but I don't want to feel like I'm neglecting my mom." Every time he went, she said, "You're not a good son; you don't take care of me." "Mom, what do you want? I take care of you for the rest of your life. You have people, I cook all your food, wash all your clothes, you have a whole house." She still was not satisfied — until he fasted and prayed. And one night God appeared to her in a dream. In the dream, God showed her her son. He was a giant, and she was like one of those tiny people in the city of Lilliput, so tiny on the ground. She asked God, "How come I'm so tiny and my son is like a giant?" And God said, "That's your real size, and that's your son in the spirit realm." The next time he came to visit his mother, she said, "My father, my father." He said, "Mom, what's up?" She said, "Now I know who you really are. You only came through my womb. You are my father." You've got to respect spiritual authority to be able to connect with what he brings into your life. I pray for you today: you will not miss it. You won't miss your favor, you won't miss your blessing, you won't miss your testimony, in the name of Jesus. Somebody shout amen.

Revelation Three — God sometimes measures your hunger before releasing your victory

The number of strikes revealed the king's level of expectation. He didn't expect much. He didn't think much would come out of it. He just said, "Well, okay, I'll do it." Even Peter — until Jesus brought a shift in his mind, he didn't quite know who Jesus was. He said, "We've toiled all night long and didn't catch any fish; nevertheless, at Thy word we will let down the net." Peter was operating in the natural; he was a fisherman. They had shaken the whole of the waters of Galilee. If there were fish, they had moved. And now, do You come and say, "Throw your nets"? Do You know anything about fishing? Because he didn't know who he was talking to. He didn't know that when Jesus was here, He was fully God and fully man. But when he threw the nets and pulled them, and the net began to break and the boat began to sink, then he knew this man is not ordinary. Immediately he jumped into the water, wanting to kill himself. But guess what? He still didn't get it.

Three years later, at the graduation of the twelve disciples, Jesus asked only one question: "Who do men say that I am?" And all the disciples plunked: "Uh, we think you're Elijah." After three years of eating My food. "Some people say you are like Jeremiah." And then suddenly Jesus turns to Peter and says, "Who do you say I am?" Peter, suddenly by an apokalupsis, the power of God hits Peter and he sees Jesus by revelation. Apokalupsis is the Greek word for revelation, which means the removal of the cover — the removal of the cover to expose what is hidden. Three and a half years, and they really didn't know who they were following. But suddenly Peter knew Jesus after the spirit.

You can be a minister and not know Jesus after the spirit. You can be in church and not really know Jesus after the spirit. But when there is an apokalupsis, a removal of the cover so that there can be a revelation, that's when you really know who Jesus is and what He can do. There are many people who have followed Him but really don't know Him. His mother knew Him; that's why she said, "Whatever He says to you, do it. I know this boy." Because there is an apokalupsis, a removal of the cover to expose what is hidden. I pray for you today: may you have a true revelation. There are people who are just following in church by mental assent and not by a deep understanding by revelation. People can take from you what you got by mental assent, but they cannot take a revelation, because you know it personally. It's like asking me to deny whether I'm hungry or not — you cannot make me deny my personal experience, because I know it. So it's my prayer that somebody during this conference will truly experience a strong personal revelation of Jesus Christ on a greater level, a better level, a deeper level, in the name of Jesus.

Revelation Four — Divine opportunities must be maximized immediately

When next are we going to see an Elisha? The king kind of knew that when these men are passing on, they pass on something to you — they pass on grace, they pass on authority. I remember when Pastor Lester Sumrall came to London. The advertisement got to me very late. I rushed to the place. It's not always you meet people like Lester Sumrall. When I got there, they said, "Oh, sorry, the church is full, unless you're ready to sit on the steps." I said, "I'll sit on the rafters if that's what you want me to do. Wherever you want me to sit, I'll sit. I must not miss this opportunity." And that was his last visit to London. You've got to understand that there are some exposures God gives you because of where He's taking you. The king did not realize that that moment was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Not long after that, Elisha died.

Revelation Five — Your actions reveal the size of your faith

Three strikes revealed limited expectation.

Revelation Six — God allows prophetic action to determine prophetic outcomes

God permitted this action of Elisha to determine the result that would follow. God was making a statement, teaching something, by those actions. The act of striking the ground symbolized the future battles. And if he had struck it many times, he would always win — no matter even if he had the worst army, because God is on his side. He would win the battle. But he didn't get it.

Revelation Seven — Partial obedience produces partial victory

If you're partial in obeying the word of God, you get a partial blessing. Obey God totally, you get a breakthrough. When you hear a word, you obey it; then, maximizing your faith, you move into the realm of the impossible. You break dimensions. You break into levels which others have never broken.

Revelation Eight — Spiritual laziness can limit divine possibilities

God says in His word that with Him nothing shall be impossible. But if a person is lazy — they don't pray, they don't fast, they don't know how to wait on God — the disciples of Jesus brought a child to be prayed for, and after they had spoken over the boy for hours, the father managed to take him to Jesus and said, "Your disciples have done a good job speaking over my son for a long time, so I brought him to You." And Jesus just said, "Get out," and the demon left. The disciples then went to Jesus: "How come we couldn't do it?" You see, when they wanted position, they went as individuals; but when they failed and wanted the power, they went together. When they wanted who would sit at His right hand, they went as individuals; but when they wanted an answer to ministry, they went together. Very powerful, very important. And Jesus said, "This kind does not leave except by fasting and praying."

And let me tell you, America, you won't die fasting. Some of us live a fasted life. We just live a fasted life. I eat once a day. I can't even remember how long I've been eating once a day. It's just life, and it's enjoyable. Our church is in the middle of a fast — only Pastor Jonathan could draw me out. Our fasting ends tomorrow: thirty days, from June 1 to 30, and again December 1 to 31. We've done it for thirty-four years — two months every year. Everyone, even our dog, fasts. Everything in our house fasts. For thirty-four years, June and December. They asked me, "How are we going to end this year's June fasting? You're going away." I said, "Well, Pastor Jonathan calls, I'm going. We'll end it online. We'll pray online."

We cannot denigrate or limit the power of God. God can work without my fasting, but He demands that I learn the power of devotion, the power of connection, the power of really relying on Him. Christian fasting is not Eastern fasting. In Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, they fast to punish the flesh and release their spirit. We don't do that. Our spirit is already released. He whom the Son sets free is free indeed. We only fast for a focus — to focus our spirit on the things of God and to receive from God. That's the reason we fast. We fast to discipline the flesh, but we are not punishing the flesh, and we are not releasing our spirit; we're already free.

Revelation Nine — Heaven is willing to give more than we often ask or act for

This man didn't get it. He didn't know he needed to strike for maximum victory. When this conference is over, go to the city where you are, whatever discipline you came from — business, ministry, whatever it is — and believe God for greater impact, bigger things. Never tell yourself it cannot be done. Even if statistics say it cannot be done, tell yourself, "I'm not moved by statistics. I'm led by the Holy Spirit. I will shine. I will break through. I will enter the realms they said I would never enter. I'll reach the levels they said I would never reach." I'm not going to give excuses; I'm going to believe God. I will wait until my change comes. I will wait until my turnaround comes. I will wait until my testimony comes. I will wait until something in the realm of the spirit turns around for me.

Revelation Ten — The difference between victory and domination is persistence

It's one thing to be victorious, but it's another to dominate the situation. When you are persistent and you stay on, and you give up everything to get what you need, something has to happen. I've seen it several times — in our ministries, in the ministry of my friends. I've seen people move because God gave them a word; they acted on the prophetic word, and it took time, but then the breakthrough came. Never worry about what somebody thinks about you. In the days when you are waiting, something will turn around. Testimony will follow. Glory will follow.

Revelation Eleven — A prophetic atmosphere can change the outcome of battles

Elisha created a prophetic environment for victory. He placed his hand on this man and told him to strike the ground. If the man alone had gone to fight the enemy, he would still have defeated them, because he's not going alone — he's going in the arm of the Lord. Remember, this same man had seen what Elisha saw when he was a younger man — the chariots of God — and yet he did not tap into the realm of the chariots of God. He saw it, but he didn't use it. He saw the revelation; he said, "My father, my father, the chariots of God."

This is my understanding of the chariots of God: it's not the kind of chariot you see Ben-Hur riding in the film, Charlton Heston riding and flogging the horses. Chariots of fire are beings. They are angelic beings that appear like chariots and go to war. They are living beings. When we get to heaven, we'll be so shocked to find that angels are not these beings with two wings flying all over the place — because Michelangelo so shaped our thinking of Christianity by his paintings. Some of us, when you catch a revelation of heaven, or when you get there, you'll see wheels within wheels moving, and the wheel will greet you, "Hello," and you'll tell the wheels are speaking. Another one Ezekiel saw had four heads: the head of an ox, the head of a lion, the head of a man, and the head of an eagle, and it came flying by him. So the chariot he saw — remember when the Syrians sent soldiers against this same Elisha, he did not move because of the chariots. It was Gehazi who said, "My father, my father, the enemies are coming." He said, "Lord, open his eyes." And when He opened his eyes, he saw chariots. These are angelic beings. The king saw it and yet negated it. He missed an opportunity.

Too many people are not striking by faith. They are not taking territories. They are not moving. When this conference is over, go back and take your city. Go back and take your business. Go back and do exploits. Go back and prophesy. Pastors, arrange chairs in the building even when no one is sitting there. Begin to anoint the chairs. Begin to call the people. Begin to make declarations: "They are coming from the east. They are coming from the west. They are coming from the north. They are coming from the south. Great men are coming. People are coming here. Healings will be done here. Miracles will be done here." When you begin to do that, something shifts.

I want you to know the shift is coming. The shift is coming, and it won't be long. Satan cannot destroy it. The devil can't stop it. He can't stand it. There is nothing he can do about it. There's a shift coming. I've seen it before. I got to the United Kingdom when the largest church in the United Kingdom was thirty people. Even when I told a gentleman that I was believing God for a hundred people, he was laughing uncontrollably. He said, "How many people do you expect to pastor here in England?" I said, "A hundred." And he went, "Ha ha ha ha." A hundred people — "this is impossible." And we grew to twelve thousand. Because somebody's got to shift the atmosphere. Somebody's got to shift it with their praise. Shift it with your fasting. Shift it with your prayer. Make the declaration. Believe what you say. Speak the word. Believe what comes out of your mouth, that it will become your reality.

When you get back, you strike the ground again. Strike it two times, three times, four times, five times, six times, seven times, eight times, nine times, ten times. Change is coming. The shift is coming, and it won't be long. I pray grace upon somebody today. I declare favor on someone today. Everything holding you must let you go.

Revelation Twelve — Divine strategy always precedes divine victory

And some of the strategies God will give you after this conference may look foolish to you, foolish to your friends — but just make sure it's from the Lord. Once you're sure this is God speaking to you, go do it, and you'll be amazed.

I was speaking for Bishop Jakes at a leadership conference, and he had a man come up — Bishop Hernandez from Florida — to raise the offering, and he gave some testimonies that showed how sometimes divine instruction may sound foolish. God had told him to leave a church they were pastoring, which was doing well, to move to Fort Lauderdale. When he got there, things were hard. Things were tough for them as a couple. One particular weekend, on a Saturday, there was no food in the house — nothing in the fridge but water. And the Holy Spirit spoke to him: "Hey, you guys should go shopping." He said, "But we don't have money." "Go shopping." "What? How do we pay?" "Go shopping." And he told his wife, "We're going shopping." His wife said, "We're going shopping? Where's the money?" He said, "Well, the Holy Spirit told me we should go shopping." They get to the store and fill the cart — do you call it a trolley here? The cart, sorry, I'm British — filled the cart with so much to eat and everything they needed. As they were approaching the checkout — what do you call the tills? The checkout; we call it the till — just before they got there, the wife said, "You were the one the Holy Spirit spoke to. You meet me in the car." How about that? But just before he got to the checkout, somebody opened the door and said, "Who is Pastor Hernandez?" And he said, "I am." "What kind of prayer did you pray today? Well, the Holy Ghost said I should come and pay for everything you are buying." Someone is about to have an uncommon testimony. Touch yourself and say, "It's my turn. It's my turn to have a miracle. It's my turn to give a testimony."

A cousin of mine is also a pastor, my first cousin — his father is number five from my grandfather; my dad is number six. I went to visit him when his wife called: "Your cousin is sick, he's not feeling fine, you need to come quick." So I rushed there, and once he saw me, life came into him. He got excited and started sharing a testimony with me. He had started a church on rented ground, built something temporary, and the church had grown to five or six hundred in Lagos. Only for the owner of the land — this can only happen in Africa — to give him five weeks to move his church. She wanted her land back. He said, "But we have a contract to rent your land." She said, "Contract or no contract, I need my land back. Five weeks." "But I have five hundred people. Where do I take them?" She said, "I don't care. Carry your people and go away."

My cousin had another piece of land somewhere. "Where do I start from? How do I build? I don't have the money." My cousin comes from a background of churches in Nigeria where, when they fast, sometimes they go three days nonstop, the only thing they take being water for three days. Can you beat that? Some of us would feel like, "Oh Jesus, I'm coming home." At the end of three days of fasting and praying, he finally felt, "Now I can eat." He had some water and something to open up the system. Just then his phone rang, and a lady was calling from Los Angeles. He's in Lagos; she's in Los Angeles. She said, "Is that pastor so-and-so?" "Yes, it is." "Who are you?" She said, "Never mind. Please write down this number." It was a Western Union number, and she sent him five thousand dollars. My cousin grabbed the money, quickly bought materials, and started a new building in the new place. As soon as the building got to what in England we call the DPC, the damp-proof course, just about window level, the money finished. She called again and sent him another five thousand dollars. He said, "Excuse me, ma'am, who are you?" She said, "It doesn't matter at the moment. You just keep collecting." It built to the roofing level, and the money finished — no money for windows, for a roof, or some other finishing. She called the third time. She said, "Write the number again." He said, "Madam, you really must tell me who you are, because I'm now afraid of this kind of money that's coming." She sent it the third time; he roofed the building. As soon as the money finished and they were about to put in some furniture and other things, she called a fourth time. He said, "Madam, you really must tell me who you are." Ladies and gentlemen, the woman said, "I don't know you. I've never met you. But somebody came from Africa and said, 'If you ever needed counseling or someone to pray with you, you could call this pastor in Nigeria; he'll pray with you, he'll counsel you.' And I've never needed your counsel and never needed your prayer. But in my sleep, Jesus appeared to me and said, 'Send money to that pastor until further notice.'" Send money to a man six thousand miles away, who prays in Lagos, Nigeria. God is interested in the L's: Lagos, Los Angeles. Oh my God, there's somebody here — you're about to get a miracle, an unusual, uncommon testimony, in the name of Jesus.

Revelation Thirteen — The enemy fears persistent believers

Satan fears persistent believers. He'll fight you. He'll fight your faith. He'll fight your commitment. He'll fight your stand. But you must stand.

Revelation Fourteen — Destiny moments must not be handled casually

When I was coming here, I considered my ministry to you a destiny moment. There are people whose future hangs on the things they will receive in this meeting. I can't teach what I've always taught. I can't say what I've always said. I have to hear from God. I have to be sure this is what you need. This is a destiny moment for somebody. Someone is about to birth the kind of miracles they've never birthed. I pray for you today: your work will grow. Your ministry will expand. Your business will expand. Your Christian life will change. A new level will come into your life — new favor, new testimony, new dimension, new things you've never seen before. It's coming your way.

Revelation Fifteen — The anointing of spiritual fathers can empower you for spiritual battles

Because spiritual fathers sometimes will see what you don't see, feel what you don't feel, hear what you don't hear. I pray for people here today that even in your ministry, in your family, in the church where you worship, in your Christian life, God will send you men and women who feel things, who hear things, who see things even before they happen, so that they walk it with you, they operate with you, they hear God with you, so you don't live in some lonesome place where there's no direction. I pray that when the enemy is threatening, God will send you men and women who have already heard God and will give you clear direction in the name of Jesus.

In the middle of my battle with the United Kingdom, I was so terrified, because I was just a young man whom God sent to that country to pastor a church. When a whole country — the whole of Britain — rolls out its system to fight you, you would need God. In the midst of it, an old prophet, a father to me in ministry — it's always my way; I blessed him several times, bought all his cars. That's one of the things I do for my fathers: buy all their cars, pay all their expenses. I did it for my father-in-law, who was one of my fathers before he went to be with the Lord. Built him two houses, bought his cars every four years, put him on salary when he was in retirement, because I needed what he carried. My father-in-law was born again from 1935. This man was a man of prayer. You don't take those kind of people for granted. So this old man walked into my office when the battle was raging, and after five minutes of praying, he said, "Let's stop praying. I hear the Lord that after this, revival will follow, and God will send you to the nations." I'm looking at him like, "Is this God's way of sending revival — this battle?" He said, "Yes, it's a preparation for where God is taking you."

I pray for you today that God will send you voices of clear direction — men and women who will stand with you, help, direct, and open your eyes to greater things. You will not be led by the statistics in the land; you will be led by the Holy Spirit. God will expand your horizon. The limitations of your father's house will not stop you. The mistakes of your fathers will not stop you. The culture of the people around you will not stop you. Where God is taking you, you will get there. Some of us are carrying nations inside us. Some of us are carrying things bigger than our fathers ever carried, bigger than our contemporaries and friends ever carried. Stop measuring yourself with those you went to high school with. Stop measuring yourself with those you went to university with. Start measuring yourself by the destiny God has given you.

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, what God has in store for them that trust in Him." Some of the things God has in store, your daddy did not see, your mama didn't see, your uncle didn't see, your enemies did not see. If they had seen it, they would have tried to block it. So God hid it from them so they can't stop it. And when the time comes, your eye will see it, your ears will hear it, your mind will receive it. If you believe it, say yes. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says, "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporary; but the things which are not seen are eternal." The things that are not seen last forever. There are things that eyes cannot see that have to do with you. There are chapters of your life that even you have not yet opened, already written. Don't frustrate your destiny and strike after three times, because the first chapter was beautiful doesn't mean it's the last chapter. The man struck three times; he felt, "It's Elisha — if he told me to strike, three times is enough." He didn't realize that if he struck ten times, he would glide along. There are chapters of your life — even if you're seventy or eighty and you're hearing me today — the Bible says you still bear fruit in old age. Never write yourself off. Some of us are just getting our fire now. There are chapters of your life that God hid even from your mother.

Revelation Sixteen — Your level of spiritual aggression determines the size of your breakthrough

We may be quiet ladies and gentlemen in the natural, but in the spirit realm we need to be aggressive, because the Bible says the kingdom of God is on a forceful advance. In the natural we are gentle — we greet people, we love people — but in the realm of the spirit, wake up some mornings and for the next thirty minutes to an hour, before the next run, the next athletics, the next walk around the city, pray in the language of the Holy Ghost. Be praying. Be taking territories: "Every place the sole of my feet hits in this city, we're taking it over. Our church is expanding. We're doing well. The world will hear from us. Nations will hear from us." Somebody's here today — you are pushing the territories, you are pushing back the enemy. I declare you are pushing back the enemy. If you believe, say amen.

Revelation Seventeen — God often gives symbolic acts that unlock spiritual realities

Some of them are not too easy. God told Isaiah, in chapters 19 and 20, to walk naked for two years. Thank God that wasn't me. Walk naked for two years — that's another level of ministry. That was a spiritual action. But for this, Elisha told him, "Hit the ground." God gives symbolic acts to unlock spiritual realities. Elisha was so much into spiritual actions. "Naaman, go and wash in the Jordan seven times," and the man began to do the same thing as this king: "The waters of my country are crystal clear, beautiful; the Jordan is dirty. Jordan means death. You want me to go and bathe in the river of death?" Yes — you need to die to your pride. Seven times, before you get the breakthrough.

He loves these kinds of actions. A woman comes to him: "The creditors are coming to take my sons. Everything is gone." And the next thing, He asks her, "What do you have in your house?" The woman, probably frustrated, says, "Nothing in my hand." He says, "Stop. You must have something." "Okay, I have a bottle of oil." That's it. Listen, everyone here listening to me: there's something about your life. There's a destiny you carry. There's a potential you carry. There's a gifting in you. There's an ability in you. There's a power in you. There's a glory on your life. There's a future to you. And I pray for you: your glory will manifest. Your destiny will manifest. Your calling will manifest. Your gifting will manifest. You will walk a new walk. You will make a new move. God will bless your work. God will put His blessing on your life. If you believe it, say yes.

Revelation Eighteen — The prophet's anger reveals how much victory was possible

He was so angry because he thought to himself, "Oh my God, if this guy had carried out the action at that moment…" Because spiritual things are sometimes in portals. At this time the portal had been opened for spiritual victory, and the portal was about to close, and the man did not take the right action. One could have thought, "Okay, my father, since you said I should strike six times, can I now do it?" No — the portal had been closed. He missed his season. He missed his time. There are times you don't know people's destiny, but you meet some people and you know somebody missed something. Father, today I pray for everyone here: you will not miss your season. When portals of possibility are open for you, you will not miss it. The heavens will breathe on your life, breathe on your destiny, breathe on your future, open doors beyond imagination. You will walk into victories that are already prepared, favors already prepared, testimonies already prepared, blessings already prepared, and you will shock the enemy. God will shock your enemies.

Revelation Nineteen — Great victories are often one more act of faith away

Revelation Twenty — God desires total conquest for His people, not partial survival

God desires total conquest for His people, not partial survival. I want you to know this: God wants you to totally win, totally conquer, totally be victorious, doors to open. We don't serve a God who loses battles. He has given us all the weapons we need, all the equipment for our fight. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Seven Reasons People Stop Striking

I want you to know there are reasons why some people stop striking.

One — Discouragement from delayed results. So you had delayed results? That's okay. Keep on striking. Keep on winning. Delay does not mean denial. "Let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." The moment many people stop praying is often the moment before the breakthrough. Don't stop praying.

Two — Spiritual fatigue. Some people are just tired of being tired. They're tired of going on. And often they are surrounded by people who are tired. You need to find people who have some fire, some revival, some ignited fire in their spirit. Get out of spiritual fatigue. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength." Another translation says exchange, because the eagle drops all its feathers and exchanges them for new ones. You shall exchange your strength.

Three — Limited expectation. We live in a world where everything seems already defined. But you've got to understand the supernatural realm expects you to trust God and walk with Him in the light of His word, and your expectation must rise. Ephesians 3:20: "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." The Amplified Bible says God can exceed your thinking, your praying, your dreaming, your hopes, your anticipations. God can exceed what you dare to dream about.

Four — Lack of spiritual aggression. The kingdom of God responds to spiritual intensity. Say, "No, I'm not leaving. This man is not for turning. I will stay until my change comes. I will hold on until my change comes."

Five — Misinterpreting early progress as the final progress. Many people see a temporary testimony as a final testimony. They don't realize something bigger is coming, something greater is coming. Don't rejoice because of Ishmael — your Isaac is coming, and your Isaac is a son of covenant. Your Isaac will last forever. Your Isaac will carry the testimony, carry the glory, bring you the breakthrough, bring you the joy, bring things that will turn around. You will have total conquest, total victory, total testimony.

What To Do

So, man of God, what do I do? I have too much in my notes, so I'll just teach a little on the "what to do," and then we'll pray.

One — Maintain a life of persistent prayer

Get out of what you've been doing before. You can't pray a fifteen-minute prayer and think you're there. Some things require that you know how to really pray. Then you say, "But Pastor Matthew, I love to pray; I want to pray, but I don't really know how to pray for long." Your Bible already has the answers. One of the smartest ways to pray is to pray the Psalms. Take Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd." You can spend some time: "God, I thank You because You're my shepherd. I thank You for what You're doing in my life. I shall not want — I bless You, Lord, because You're supplying all my need. I will not lack. Your word cannot lie." By the time you go to the third statement, before you finish Psalm 23, you've prayed for one hour. Psalm 1: "Blessed is the man who does not stand, or sit, or walk with the ungodly." "Father, I give You praise. I thank You for saving me, bringing me out of unrighteousness and sin and putting my life in Christ. Thank You for washing me with the blood of redemption. Thank You for the new life. Thank You for making me a new person." Then the next verse: "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His word does he meditate day and night." "Father, from today I delight in Your word. Your word is healing me, delivering me, setting me free. I'm meditating in Your word day and night. Your word says I am healed. Your word says I'm delivered. Your word says I'm victorious. Your word says I'm above and never beneath. Your word says I'm a child of God. Your word says I have dominion." When you tell yourself these things several times, you reach a place where no one can change your conviction.

All the arguments about whether people should believe in prosperity or not — I don't have time for those arguments. I have found 1,215 scriptures that teach the subject, and you are arguing against it. There are only 500 scriptures on prayer, only 150 scriptures on hope, only 300 scriptures on faith, and the whole of the Bible does not have more than 100 scriptures on salvation. And yet on finance, God took the time to give us 1,215 — and you want to argue against it? I have more than two or three witnesses; I have 1,215 witnesses that I shall prosper. For me to be broke, God would have to be broke. And since God cannot be broke, then I will not be broke. Amen.

The Bible says we are joint heirs. What does it mean to be a joint heir with a person? The word "joint heir" was taken from Roman culture. In Roman culture, at the time the New Testament was written — Pastor Jonathan — you could disown your natural child, but you could not disown a child by adoption. The law did not permit you. Google it when I finish, or go to ChatGPT and ask, "In Roman times, can a child who is adopted be disowned?" It will tell you no. You could not disown an adopted child, while you could disown a natural child. It sounded like a contradiction when I first read it. Then it became an apokalupsis: I'm adopted — "Hey, Jesus, we're together; You can't reject me." Now, if you're a joint heir with Christ — is there any attorney in the house? An attorney would tell you that to be a joint heir with a person means three things: equality of power, equality of position, and equality of possession. Whatever Jesus has, He said, "I can have it." Then you tell me to be broke? Jesus isn't broke, and I'm not going to be broke. I see you prospering. I see you increasing. I see you favored. I see you blessed, in the name of Jesus.

Two — Stay aligned with divine instruction

Every time you're given a divine instruction, keep alignment. When those modules leave NASA to go to the space station, the reason they are able to lock together is because there's an alignment — by the speed, by the journey, by the intricacy of the journey, yet they click together because there's an alignment. If man can do that, you too can align with God. You can so align with God in such an intricate system that you are connected and you say, "God, what You say, I will do. I'll go where You say to go. I'll be what You said to be."

Three — Keep striking until God says stop

Never abandon a God-given assignment prematurely. Persistence is a major key to victory. Winners in the kingdom are those who refuse to stop striking.

Four — Guard your faith against doubt

The enemy will fight you. First John 5:4: "This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." What world is he talking about? The world — the system around us that wants to negate, belittle, and reduce the capacity of our faith. When you hold on to the word of God, you sometimes flow in contrary distinction from everyone, and at that time you look foolish. But the day will come when you will be the one who has the testimony.

Five — Stay connected to spiritual authority

Your pastor is not just a pastor. He's a spiritual authority, a carrier of the grace of God, a vessel of God. And if you don't have a pastor, you need to find one. You cannot operate without a pastor. If anybody ever told you, "Oh, I'm just under God; I'm not under man" — liar. You cannot be under God if you are not under man. Joshua 1:1: before you are under God, you must be under man. "Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord spoke to Joshua, the servant of Moses." Because the minister of Moses also means the servant of Moses. If he didn't submit to Moses, he could not submit to God. And it was because he submitted to Moses that whatever Moses had, he received.

We don't run church by hate. We don't run ministry by mental assent. We don't run our Christian life by what we know about people after the flesh; we must know them after the spirit. In fact, if you're the pastor's wife, your husband is also your spiritual head. There must be a way you put aside "sweetheart, darling," whatever you call him, because when he's the spiritual man, he is the father, the spiritual covering; at that time he is operating by the Spirit of God. One of the biggest challenges of being married to a minister is that sometimes they've already carried out things the Holy Spirit told them before He told you. "But you didn't tell me." "Well, I heard the Holy Ghost first. I'm not negating or belittling you, but I need to move by the Spirit." Some people forget the impact of real connection to a covering. You can never outgrow the covering over your life.

Six — Feed your spirit with the word of God

"The flower fades, the grass withers, but the word of the Lord abides forever." He is watching over His word to perform it. "Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven." There's a whole sermon about the woman whose son died, who was prayed for by Elisha. Where did she take her son? She took him to the upper room of elevation, and put the son on the bed of restoration, right in front of the table of revelation, by the chair of enthronement and the candlelight of illumination. That is the word of God. The word of God should bring elevation — she took the son to the place of elevation. What a woman. She built the room for the man of God above their own rooms; she lifted the word above herself. She put her son on the bed of restoration, for the word of God restores. By the table of revelation — every man of God has a place where he studies the word of God for revelation. And near the candlestick of illumination — the word of God should bring you light, illumination. And by the seat of elevation, which was a place of enthronement. When you elevate the word, when you enthrone the word, things begin to happen, doors begin to open, changes begin to come, because "He sent His word and healed them" (Psalm 107:20). Many times we're processing things by information instead of just learning to operate on the word of God.

Closing Prophetic Declaration

I close by declaring into your life a prophetic word. Enough is enough. Today, I speak wealth into your life. I speak increase into your life. I speak abundance into your life. I speak kingdom prosperity into your life, multiplication into your life. I declare that you're coming out of indebtedness. You're coming into spiritual freedom. You're coming into ownership of things you wanted to own. You will possess possessions. You will take territories. Somebody in this service today, you will walk in supernatural prosperity. God will enlarge your financial capacity. Wealth and riches will be in your house. God will connect you to divine opportunities. He will prosper your hand. He will prosper your life. I declare and decree your financial future is secured. Every spirit of financial struggle is broken from today. God fills your mouth with laughter and fills your life with celebration. Favor is coming to your house. Glory is coming to your house. Testimony will follow you; blessing will follow you from today.

I pray for everyone here: as you take the arrows in your hand — the arrow of the word, the arrow of prayer, the arrow of faith, the arrow of obedience, and the arrow of worship — you will strike, and there will be testimony. There will be victory in your house. There will be glory in your house. There will be blessing in your house. Shout amen with power.

When I was coming, I sensed that some people are facing battles which they may have not told anyone. Right now I take authority over every enemy that was destined to fight you. You shall overcome them. Every chain of limitation placed on your mind, placed on your ministry, is broken from today. Some of us do not realize there are people who take our names, our pictures, or things about us to some evil altars. Everyone here who has been spoken against from an evil altar, we cancel it in the name of Jesus. From today, prison doors are open for you. Hidden battles — you get the victory. The blood of Jesus speaks for you. The blood of Jesus brings your victory. The blood of Jesus brings your testimony. The blood of Jesus turns things around. From today, you will walk in total victory, total freedom, total testimony.

And whatever circumstances you are facing, I declare into your life victory over the circumstance, victory over the situation. God will fill your mouth with laughter and fill your life with celebration. He will establish you in dominion. Total victory. Complete victory. Permanent victory. Undeniable victory. This is your story. Go with God. Go with grace. Go with power. Go with healing. Go with deliverance. Go with testimony. So shall it be.

Altar Ministry

Some people here came to this conference with a lot of hurts. Others have just been through some broken relationships, and you need healing — healing from broken connections, from the hurts you've been through in recent times. Everyone at the altar, lift your hand and cry to God. Tell Him, "Heal me, Lord, and I'll be healed." Pray like Jeremiah: "Heal me, and I'll be healed. Save me, and I'll be saved."

Spirit of the living God, touch these men and women. Do a new thing in them. Bring them out of that pain, out of the hurt, out of the broken relationships. Bring healing. Bring joy. God heals you from today. Total freedom. Everything that held you back must let you go. Every pain, every crime, the walking away — whoever hurt you, whoever walked away, will never be able to hurt you anymore. Testimony follows you from today, in the name of Jesus. Be healed.

You may have done what they said you did, but you are not the person they called you. The names they called you are not who you are. I bring the healing. I bring the deliverance. Every name they call you, we wash you with the blood. You're not a failure. The devil is a liar. Be free. Victory in the name of Jesus. Someone from your past is always wanting to poke their face into your present. We cut them off and declare a new season. The past is in the past, and the new season begins. New life, new destiny, in Jesus' name.

Today I pray for you: you carry a destiny more than you are manifesting. You will walk in your destiny, you will walk in your purpose, in the name of Jesus. You've been gifted but limited — you are a ten-cylinder person but firing on three. So from today I call your destiny forth. I call a manifestation of your grace, your destiny, your purpose to begin to manifest. All the pain from your father's house, I pull you out of it. I call you into a new season, a new level. Your past is not your future, in the name of Jesus.

Before I came here today, I was told to pray for someone with intestinal disorders. Father, in the name of Jesus, I release healing virtue on this woman. From today, every intestinal disorder, be healed of it. Power of God set you free. Let's give Jesus a clap offering.

Every lie spoken against you is canceled by the blood. The power of God is on you, healing you. You blessed them, but they came back saying the wrong thing, cursing you, hurting you. But today, I pull you out of the hurts, out of the wrong things they've said, and I declare a new season, new levels, new favor, new testimony, in the name of Jesus. Despite everything, you've always felt like a failure. But the devil is a liar. You come from a generation of blessed people, a generation of people who have done great exploits, and you will do exploits. You will achieve.

Today I pray for you: everything you gained this week, believe it and take it. Take it on Monday morning. Thank You, Jesus, for Your fire, for Your power, for the new light of the Holy Ghost, for the milk of the word of God, for taking us from glory to glory, victory to victory, and strength to strength. Everything people came in here with today that they need a touch — they receive it now, in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Blessing of Giving

A Message on Giving by Pastor Jonathan Shuttlesworth

Were you blessed today? Say a scripture with me: "It's more blessed to give than to receive." First Kings 17:8 — I'm going to read it; you can turn there if you don't trust me, but I'm not going to make up any words. "Then the Lord said to Elijah, 'Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.'"

I always wondered for years about that. I didn't blame that lady for a long time for not wanting to give Elijah anything, because I thought, if some guy just showed up and I was a single mother with enough for me and my kid, and he said, "Bake me some bread," I'd take my skillet and crack him in the head. But the way that story reads, I always missed that verse: "I've already given her my instruction." So the story should have read that when Elijah arrived, there was a lady standing there with hot cakes, and she handed them to him. But like happens in church every service, the people need the offering beat out of them with a revelation. So if you can not be like that lady, you get in a different flow.

It's great to have the Lord speak to you that somebody has a heart ailment or another problem that needs to be prayed for. But one of the greatest flows you can get into is when you let the Lord speak to you and hear His voice on what to give and what to be a part of.

Most of you heard me tell that story when I went to church one time intending not to give. I planned on not giving, because we had a $550,000 down payment on our 107 property due Monday, and it was Sunday morning, and Jerry Savelle was taking the offering. The Lord spoke to me as clear as anything — and it was the Lord, because I know it wasn't the devil and I know it wasn't me, so that only leaves one person. The Lord said, "Are you believing Me for favor in that negotiation tomorrow?" It kind of had me trapped, because on the drive there I had said, "Lord, I'd love it if You gave me favor. $550,000 down on a $5.3 million building is a great deal, but You can do all things, so if You'd help me — this guy is taking an offering for another church they're building, and you're the one that travels around preaching. What you make happen for others, God makes happen for you. Give a hundred thousand for that." And that was all He said. When I gave it, you've heard me tell the story that I started mumbling to myself — I didn't even believe in that speaking-over-your-seed stuff. But because my heart was so attached to that, it put me in a flow. That's why the Bible says, "Let each man give as he is directed by the Spirit." You'll never hear — we have a zillion more dollars come in than the ministries that say, "Now we're not going to go on with the service; there are a hundred people here that are going to give $100." That's not being led by the Spirit; that's being led by some guy auctioneering an offering, and it doesn't work. The reason our ministry operates in supernatural overflow — we'll crest easily 40 million this year, up from 12 million three years ago, and it'll keep climbing — is because we're led by the Spirit on what to give.

When God speaks to you about a seed, I promise you, it's never, "Man, I was going to give a lot more than that." If He says ten dollars, that's fine. You plan not to give, and the Holy Ghost speaks to you to give, and He's not doing it to decrease you — He's doing it to increase you. Most of you know the story: when we went to the building negotiation the next day, the guy waived the whole $550,000. So that's plus $450,000 — I didn't lose a hundred thousand, I gained four hundred fifty. Then he donated the whole building. So that hundred thousand on a seed turned into — it came back with fifty-three friends. Can you say amen?

Everyone say it: "It's more blessed to give than to receive." Jerry Savelle's in heaven; I wouldn't need to tell him this, he would know it. When I gave him a hundred thousand, he received a hundred thousand. But I received more. The blessing stays with the giver. Many times in charismatic and Pentecostal circles, prosperity celebrates what it's received. Don't get me wrong, I thank God for every blessing I've received — but true prosperity celebrates what it's given. I'm happy we have a building to put our office in at 107, I'm happy with everything the Lord's done with this building. But I'm more happy that I'm a $35,000-a-month partner with Dag Heward-Mills. When I watched those crusades — you heard Bishop Dag talk about how we gave when they did the medical stuff; our church did that, $200,000. Preachers don't come with a check for $200,000 for another preacher. I flew to Africa and didn't get paid — not that Pastor Matthew wouldn't have paid me, but it's a crusade; he's not getting paid. I'm not coming for my honorarium; I'm coming to make kingdom impact. Can you say amen?

When you allow yourself to hear what the Lord wants to do — I just told a man today, "I just leased a brand-new Cadillac Escalade, and it'll be in your driveway on Friday." And then his wife told my wife that was on my prayer list. I just walked by him yesterday and felt the Lord speak to me to do that, and that's what they were believing for. I didn't know that. But if you learn to pick up what people require or are believing for, and let God use you as the vessel to do it — Jesus has never come down from heaven and handed anybody money. You're His hands, just like He doesn't go preach the gospel to people — you are His body on the earth. Once He sees that you're somebody He can channel huge amounts of money through, huge amounts of money start getting channeled through you. That's the further revelation on "He gives seed to the sower": once God realizes — and I feel like I kind of stumbled into this — when we received our first million dollars, that I talked about last night, from Finland, I told the Lord — because legally I could have designated $800,000 of it for a parsonage and put myself in a house, and that's legal, and I'd say that's what your average minister would do; not one person outside their ministry and personal family would have benefited from it. Maybe they'd tithe. But I told the Lord, "I bet You think I'm going to run off with this million and build a house." I was in an apartment. Find me somebody who lives in an apartment that You can give a million to, and they live in the same place and never take a raise. I didn't take a raise. I stayed in the apartment. And I gave — not the tithe — I gave $520,000 of that million away immediately to other ministries. Look what it's turned into. Because I knew when I received the million, where I was going was going to require more than a million dollars. Now it requires about a million every ten days.

If you start learning to treat money as seed — for me, $100,000 is nothing to cling on to. What are you going to do with $100,000? You can buy a pickup truck and pay your taxes. A pickup truck is about $70,000, $75,000, $80,000, and once you pay the tax on it, you might not even be able to do that. So if you're believing for properties and church buildings and employees, you ain't going to do that on a $50 seed. Now, if all you have is $50 and you're young, then you sow that, believing — like I talked about last night, where the $2,500 turned into a Rolex, the Rolex turned into a million, the million turned into the ability to sow $520,000. You sow for a bigger seed. I gave $350,000 last year at What No Eye Has Seen, and now I've upped it to five-something that I've given. But my goal is not to give — I'm giving that so that I can sow a million dollars, because once we sowed a million from the ministry — a million-dollar offering, billion-dollar flow. We operate in a billion-dollar flow. So I'd like to do that personally too. What you give from the ministry comes back to the ministry; what you give personally comes back personally. Say it one more time: "It's more blessed to give than to receive."

This is a lady whose teenage daughter was in the church I was preaching at in Kentucky, who runs a Bible club at the public school with 250 students in it. I was interested, so we bought her a car — she had just turned sixteen. And then I was interested to know who her mother was. What kind of mother produced somebody like this? They said she was working back in the children's room. I said, "Bring her out, I'd like to meet her." When I saw her, she thanked me for buying her daughter a car. And then I said, "Where do you live?" And we made a move to pay her house off. Now, if this doesn't interest you, then you should go find another ministry to follow. But if you get into the blessing of giving like that — why was that lady scrounging for a meal for her and her son? God provided a three-and-a-half-year supply of food. But even if He didn't, I'd rather give my last bread to Elijah and watch him go behead 850 prophets of Baal, than starve to death making sure I have my meal so I survive. You have to get out of survival mode in the ministry. That's why pastors don't have evangelists in — "we need our Sunday offering." One guy told me, "You evangelists take all the money out of churches." I said, "I've been watching your Instagram posts; you already don't have any money without any evangelist helping you. You're always on there saying you don't have anything. So don't blame evangelists — you didn't have anybody in." When you're worried about you and what to eat and what to wear, you're an exact contradiction of Matthew chapter 6. Why worry about what to wear, what to eat, where to live? These are the things that consume the thoughts of the Gentiles. But your Father, who takes care of the flowers and the birds, will take care of you. Can you say amen?

If you could give yourself broke, me and a dollar would be living in a state park in a sleeping bag, but you can't do it. I've tried really hard. When you give, your gift comes back to you. Here's the lady we bought the house for. This is fun. This feels better than any watch you could buy for yourself. One of the reasons you want to prosper is so that people don't have to apply at an HOA or whatever — you can be a walking dream fulfiller, and it's really great to do.

This is Sister Diana Miller from Alton, Illinois — the lady I blessed with $1,000 every month. I said "until Jesus comes," but she said "to the rapture, because I'm going up in the rapture." She wanted to tell me she appreciates it. She said it has opened up so many doors. Even a lot of saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost people didn't even believe it, so she made a copy of the check and has been sharing it everywhere. Her son, who is 54 years old, that she couldn't even get to go to church — because I gave her that blessing, he's been going to church, because he appreciates what the man of God did for his mother. That was Spirit-led; I prayed for her, I think it was in St. Louis, and the Lord said, "Give her $1,000 every month till she goes to heaven." I didn't know she had a 54-year-old son who hated preachers and hated church. When she told him I was going to do that, he said, "The money's never going to come; those guys are full of crap." Then it came. Then he said, "It's going to come once, and that's it." Then it came. Then it came. Then it came. And the next time I preached in the Midwest, sitting next to her was her son, who came up to the altar and gave his life to Jesus Christ. Because if you'll let God speak to you about giving — he needed somebody to do that. And if you'll allow yourself to be the vessel, there's an open tap from heaven funneling money into your account. It's a fact.

This lady handles my money privately; I pay her privately. She's standing in the back with her daughter, handling my money for the last two years. Am I blowing smoke, or does it make sense? She's watched me give my personal account down to $6,000, and I'll call to check if I've got at least $3,000 left, because I'm going to go do something with Camila, and it's like, "No, it's at $74,000." From where? People sent stuff in. Somebody just gave me a $100,000 check, and I signed it over to the ministry. I'm building this. This is what I want: a big church building. We've got some other cities we're making moves into that I'll share later in the week. So I'm not saying this so you plan in your head to help me get my bank account up. I'm blessed. I never run out of money, ever. In fact, when I was in Nigeria with Pastor Matthew, I gave a tip — I had a $100 bill left, and I gave it as a tip because it was the only cash I had. Then I went up to my hotel room in Port Harcourt and said, "Lord, that's all the cash I have, so I can't really tip anybody. I'd love to have some more cash." And the phone rang, and they said, "Somebody dropped an envelope off at the front desk in Lagos for you." It was $5,000 US cash. I basically just use cash for tips, and as soon as it's out, it comes back. I tip thousands of dollars a month to people I'll never see again. But the next time they do an exposé on me on TV, there's going to be a bunch of people going, "That's the guy I was telling you about." It all comes back, because for me, I think, what would Jesus give a bellman? What would Jesus give somebody serving Him at a table? I feel like Jesus would be a memorable experience for anybody He was with.

So think of this: you give that lady from Alton, Illinois, a thousand a month; you pay that lady's house off. The week after I paid that lady's house off, somebody sent in a million. Then it was another big seed, and somebody sent in a million in stock, and then $500,000 — a guy said, "Everything you're doing in Africa, I want to pay for it up front," and sent a check for half a million. That was one half-million that came in from obeying God. Because if you'll listen, God wasn't trying to take that lady's meal — He was taking one meal and turning it into the very thing she was concerned about alleviating. The Bible says, "No matter how much they used, there was always plenty left over" (First Kings 17:16). So I can't tell you the amount, but if you'll let the Lord speak to you, He'll probably put His finger on something bigger than the comfortable thing you were planning on giving. The harvest is supernatural and continual. You don't have to save for things in life and ministry — you can sow for them.

The pastor I preached for in South Texas — back when Adonica and I had an apartment — the Lord spoke to me: "He's had you in every year since the year you got out of Bible college. What are you going to do?" I said, "I'm going to pay your house off." He said, "Oh, what a blessing — I only have two mortgage payments left." But I was committed either way. So who knows which one of those seeds made that nice man Frank call my wife and say, "I'm giving you the house I built in Wexford, brand new, and here's money for furniture, and here's money to buy" — if you see the Range Rover she's buying, that was all off that one seed. I don't know what seed did that, but I know you cannot make things happen at a large scale for other people and have God not make things happen for you at an even larger scale.

You know, when people say, "I don't believe in prosperity" — okay, great, then don't ever do anything like buying someone a house. There's a man here — I won't say who — who went to prison for the January 6th stuff, and we had his wife and kids. I barely knew the guy; I just knew him from X, and he had been in a couple of my meetings. We brought his wife and kids up here and gave them a place to live, because I thought, doing unto others — if I went to jail, what would I want someone to do for Adonica and Camila? Most people, no blessing leaves their house. Even ministers — the ministry gets passed to their kids; they have no view outside of that. One of the reasons I'm willing to spend money and fly here and enjoy it — you can tell I feel about you like I feel about my family. There's not "me, Adonica, and Camila, and then congregants." I give the majority of my time to the outside body of Christ, because you're God's. What can I do to pay Jesus back for what He did for me? Truly, I can never pay Him back. But He said to Peter, "Lovest thou Me? Then feed My sheep." So if that's something Jesus gave me that I can do — You want Your people taken care of, You want that lady and her son in the kingdom — then I'm all in.

You can get crazy about that, but you have to stay within the bounds of Scripture. You have to take a day a week and rest. You have to sleep at night, unless you're doing all-night prayer once in a while, so you don't just go nuts and burn out after eleven years. You structure your life so you can pay that debt back for sixty years. They used to sing a song when I was growing up in church: "He paid a debt He did not owe; I owed a debt I could not pay." It's not like Jesus wants payment back for dying for me, or He's going to send me to hell — I'm saved. But because I'm saved, I want to help people. You want churches built. You like evangelistic crusades. You like the sick being healed. That's what You like, Jesus — then that's what my money is going to go to. Like I told Adonica a few years back, before we were given a house: if God feels we're owed a house, He can get us a house, but my thoughts are on the expansion of His kingdom. When you flip it to that, you enter into Matthew 6:33: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." See, I got the best of both worlds. Baptists and Assemblies of God will tell you, "Can't you live on less so that others can simply hear the gospel?" But that's not possible, because He didn't say, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and have less." He said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the other things that you could be dying trying to get, I will add unto you." Receive that grace today, in Jesus' name.

Everybody say, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He'll give you the desires of your heart." I feel like even this enormous church we have in four and a half years is a function of that, because that's my desire. I'd give my house, watch, car, Xbox, anything, clothes, to have a church of 2,000. God knows my main desire. If you have a church of 2,000, you can rebuy the clothes at some point with your salary. There's nothing I desire more than an impactful ministry. That's a major middle finger to the devil. It's the thing I want most. I love God and I hate Satan. I hate his work. I love sticking it to him. Once the Lord knows — see, you can't fake your heart. I heard Bishop Oyedepo say this in New York City when I went to see him in 2013. He said, "You can read all my books and do all the principles in my books, but until you have my heart, it won't work right." He talked about how much he loves God: when he was a teacher for the nation of Nigeria, they sent him to a rural place to teach school, and he asked where the church was so he could attend. He wasn't in the ministry. They said, "This village has no church." It bothered him so much that the village had no church that he constructed one. When some guys saw him doing it, they helped him, and he built one out of branches and leaves and grass, and called it the grass cathedral. Then he started holding services on Sunday. They just had him back as a 70-year-old man, and the village elder gave him a lantern and said, "We're presenting you with this lantern as a sign and a memorial that this village was dark until you came and brought God's light to it." He said he couldn't hold back the tears.

You should let God give you, while you're in this conference, a passionate love for God's kingdom. Because giving — did anybody, when you were dating, besides me, spend more money than you had to on the girl you were dating? No wonder the divorce rate is so high. I didn't have to attend a conference on why you should spend money on your girlfriend; I just gave because I loved her, and the money flowed. When somebody falls in love, the money flows to whatever they're in love with. If you'll let God fill you with a love for His kingdom, then giving is like breathing, and receiving requires no prayer. Say it with me: "Receiving requires no prayer." I don't pray to get my bills paid. Not one of my prayer points was ever about paying this building off. Give, and you shall receive. I rebuke the devil that's holding back my harvest — what devil can hold back your harvest? God already said He'd open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it all in, and He'll rebuke the devourer for your sake. From today, you enjoy effortless, bountiful, supernatural, continual harvest, in Jesus' name. If you receive it, clap your hands one more time.

The offering was received toward Revival Today's work — church buildings, evangelistic crusades, and the healing of the sick.
